Abstract:
"Since the 1960s many historians of science have tried to prove that Niels Bohr’s atomic theory from 1913 and his complementary view from 1927 were inspired by philosophical ideas originating from either Søren Kierkegaard, William James or Harald Høffding. In this essay these views are examined critically and refuted one by one. In addition all relevant material is presented, including some letters from Niels Bohr’s private correspon­ dence. The conclusion is that Bohr’s works in physics should be explained in terms of an internalistic rather than an externalistic view of the history of science".-
